NETWAR 44.0 – Know Before You Attend

This page helps prepare you for attending NETWAR.

Please read this page as it contains a lot of important information.

Last Updated: October 15, 2024

Event Doors open at 6 pm on Friday

Please note that the event doors DO NOT open until 6 pm on Friday. If you arrive early, you cannot enter the venue.

Driving Directions and Parking

The building where we are hosting NETWAR is located on the backside of the College of Saint Mary Campus. We have typed up detailed directions (with a map and photos) on how to find the venue and parking information. Please read through these directions before leaving home.

Be careful when driving through the campus, as there are some pretty intense speed bumps.

When You Arrive

You can enter the venue, head directly to your reserved seat, set up your gear, and connect it to the network. If you have any issues, please come over to the admin area for assistance.

Power / Electricity

When hooking up your equipment to power, plug into our power strips directly beneath your table. Please do not plug into power strips at your neighbor’s table, as you can overload a breaker.

Know Your Seat Number / Event Layout

Please know your seat number before you arrive at the event. It will prevent you from wandering around, not knowing which seat to sit in. Your seat number can be found under the My Tickets section on the registration website or in the complete attendee list.

Review the event layout to locate your seat and more within the event.

Update All Ticket Information

Be sure all of your tickets have the latest information for each attendee, including name, gamertag, and email address. If you have purchased a ticket for someone else, please update the information on that ticket to reflect that person’s unique information.

If you purchased two tickets/seats for yourself, please update one of the ticket’s gamertag to your normal gamertag with “_2s” (underscore) appended to the end.

How to update your tickets:

  1. Go to the My Tickets page on our registration website.
  2. Under each ticket, click on Edit Ticket Details.

Important Information For Those Under 18

If you are under the age of 18 and plan to attend NETWAR, you must download, print, and complete this document. Your legal guardian must sign this document. You must present this completed form to the NETWAR staff to participate in the event.

Event Schedule / Tournaments / Know Your Ticket Code

For the latest information, please review the Event Schedule on the website.

To compete in tournaments at the event, you must register on our Intranet software at the event. You will need your seven-character Ticket Code. This code is on the registration confirmation email you received when you purchased your ticket. It can also be found under the My Tickets section on the registration website, right under the barcode. Tournament registration opens one hour before the tournament starts. We will announce it on our PA system at the event.

Tournament Walkthrough Video

If you are planning to play in tournaments at NETWAR this weekend, we have a video that walks you through how our tournaments are organized and the software we use. Please watch it before attending.

Tournament How To Video

Food and Beverages / Concessions

You may bring your own drinks and snacks into the venue. No alcohol is allowed. You may NOT have food delivered. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to fill at the water bottle filling station.

We have contracted with Hy-Vee to run concessions for the entirety of the event. They will be cooking food during the event and have Pepsi and Coke products and a ton of energy drinks (Bawls, Monster, Red Bull, and many others) available for purchase. They will accept cash and credit/debit cards. This is a non-alcoholic event. There are many restaurants and bars located within walking distance of the venue.

Chairs

You are welcome to bring your favorite desk chair. If you cannot, we will have folding chairs available. Please note that these folding chairs are not very comfortable. We recommend bringing a pillow or some padding for your rear.

Hauling Equipment into the Venue

You might be parking a good distance from the building. We recommend using your chair or a portable cart to haul your gear into the venue. Inside the venue, we have a few cable ramps. Be careful walking over these or pushing a chair or cart loaded with your stuff over them. We have seen too many people dump their gear on the floor. Review your travel path. It is possible to navigate through the LAN party to your seat and miss all ramps.

Monitor Arms

If you are planning to bring a monitor arm, please read the Frequently Asked Questions section for more information and warnings.

Do Not Block Aisles

Please be courteous and move totes, boxes, and other items so they do not block aisles and walkways. When sleeping, please sleep in the designated area along the east wall of the venue, NOT in your aisle!

LAN Courtesy

Please review our LAN Courtesy page, which discusses ideas and concepts on being a respectful and courteous attendee at the event. Thank you.

Install Games / Prepare Your Gaming System

Before you pack up your gaming system, please install all the games you wish to play at NETWAR. This also includes patching/updating them to the latest version. Please be conscious of your Internet usage at the event. Be kind to our Internet pipe.

Suggestions before packing your gaming system:

  1. Install/update all games you think you will play at the event
  2. Update/patch your operating system
  3. Verify your gaming system is healthy and in working order
  4. Computers: Scan for malware and viruses
  5. Computers: Update graphics drivers to the latest

What To Bring (Most Important)

We highly suggest you read the What To Bring page twice! There is also a downloadable PDF that you can check the boxes on your computer or print off and check the items off the list as you pack them. It pains the staff to see an attendee forget to bring something important. Forgetting just one little cable, special power adapter, or mouse pad can ruin your time at the event.

The most commonly forgotten items are network cables (25 feet+), power cords, monitor power adapters, and mouse pads.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with all of our rules before attending.
